The Regina Pats open a two-game mini-swing tonight against the Red Deer Rebels, game time is at 8:00 pm (Saskatchewan time) with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-game Show at 7:35 pm. You can listen to the hockey game on CKRM and watch the World Olympic Opening Ceremony on TSN at the same time.
It is a weekend that may decide their fate the rest of the way. The hockey club is five points behind Moose Jaw and Swift Current for the final playoff spot with 14 games left to play. If they sweep the weekend, they've still got a chance. If they lose both games, their play-off hopes are gone.
Regina Pats 18-year old winger Garrett Mitchell will NOT suit up for the Pats tonight. He was blindsided by Brandon's Paul Ciarelli Tuesday night and hasn't played since he suffers with concussion-type symptoms.
GAME SUMMARY: By Ron C. Johnston - In the first period Red Deer's Andre scored a soft goal. The puck went under the pad leg of Ketlo at 11:02, assisted by Landon Farrow and Alex Petrovic.
Red Deer went up 2-0, when Farrow took the puck away from Regina Pats Sparrow and went on a break-a-way, scoring over Ketlo's left shoulder into the right corner of the net at 5:21. Regina Pats made the game closer when Jordan Weal scored a power play goal from the left side at 8:00, assisted by Cody Carlson and Colten Teubert. It was Red Deer 2-1 going into the third period.
