2010 - OLYMPICS - CANADA'S MEN TEAM DOWNS GERMANY - 8-2 - CANADA vs RUSSIA WEDNESDAY

The Canadian Men's Hockey team took a 1-o lead going into the second period and scored 4 goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead into the third period.

Dan Heatley, behind the net passed out to the right corner of the goal and Joe Thornton tipped in the puck at 10:13, assisted also by Duncan Keith.

Canada scored two goal with in one minute early in the second period. Defenceman Shea Weber scored on a slap shot from the centre of the blue line at 2:32, unassisted. It went to the high left corner of the net threw the net. The goal had to be reviewed, but after the review the puck went right threw the mesh. One minute later Canada went up 3-0 as Jerome Inigla scored from the left corner of the net, assisted by Drew Doughty and Eric Staal.


Inigla scored his second goal this time receiving a pass from Staal at the right face-off circle, scoring into the right corner of the net at 8:50, also assisted by Dan Boyle. Canada were allowed a penalty shot, and Sidney Crosby took it only to be stopped on a back hand at the right side of the net. Germany finally got on the scored sheet at 16:34, as Marce Goc scored as he skated around behing the net and tucked the puck in the right side of the net.

In the third period Sidney Crosby parked at the side of the net, received a pass from Eric Staal from the right boards and scored at 1:10, also assisted by Duncan Keith. Canada went up 6-1 as Brenden Morrow passed out from behind the net to Mike Richards who was parked in front of the net and scored at 6:41, also assisted by Jonathan Toews. Scott Neidermyer scored a short handed goals at 11:22 as he went in from the centre line on a break-a-way. Canada scored the final goal as Rick Nash scored from the right board of the face-off circle at 16:28, assisted by Chris Pronger. Germany scored their last goal at 18:58 when they had a two man break from the blue line, Manuel Klinge scored on Kai Muller's rebound.
