By: Ron C. Johnston - Canada Men's Hockey Team will get a second chance for the Gold Medal against the Americans this coming Sunday as they held on in the dying moments of a 3-2 victory over Slovakia.

Canada took a 3-0 lead and, with just over 9 minutes remaining in the contest, the fans started to chant "Bring on the Americans". That seemed to wake the Slovakian team up as they scored two goals in three and a half minutes.

After a long shot from the right side of the blue line by Shea Weber, the puck was redirected by Patrick Marleau on a waist high stick at the right side of the net into the goal at the 13:30 mark, assisted by Scott Niedermayer. Then, less than two minutes later Brendon Morrow, parked at the left side of the net, tipped in Chris Pronger's screen shot from the left side of the blue line at 15:17.

The only goal in the second period had Ryan Getzlaf score a power play goal at 16:54 in front of the net, assisted by Corey Perry and Pronger.

In the third period on a delayed penalty, Slovakia's Lubomir Visnovsky carried the puck from Canada's blue line down the right boards and passed the puck out in front of the net. It went off a Canadian offender into the goal at 11:35. This sparked the Slovakian team as they scored their second goal at 15:07.

It was Richard Nednik who carried the puck around behind the net towards the left side and shot the puck as he came out in front. Michal Handzus scored on the rebound at the right side of the net.

In the last 90 seconds, with their goaltender pulled for an extra attacker, the Slovakians swarmed around the Canadian's net but could not score. With only five seconds remaining, a Slovakian did hit the goal post.
