The Regina Pats kickoff a busy weekend tonight when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos to the Brandt Centre for a 7:00 pm faceoff on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm), with Broadcaster Rod Pedersen and Colorman Al Dumba. The Pats will then visit Swift Current tomorrow night before returning home to face the Kootenay Ice Sunday night at 6:00 pm. Regina is ranked second in the WHL on the power play (27.4%) and 13th on the penalty kill (78.2%).
GAME SUMMARY: It was all Swift Current in the first 10 minutes, as they were out shooting the Regina Pats 6-0. The Broncos were the first to score as Justin Dowling scored a tip in. It was a rebound from the side of the net at 1:48, assisted by Travis Bobbee and Stephen Novotny. At the mid point, Swift Current had a 2 men advantage, but it was Regina Pats Defencemen Colten Teubert with a break-a-way and a partial break-a-way with in three minutes, both coming out of the penalty box. The first Teubert was stopped by goalie Mark Friesen and the second the puck got away from him. With Swift Curent Broncos shooting the puck to the net, 2 players skated to the net. It was Matt Tassone scoring on the rebound at 18:54, assisted by Taylor Vause and Joel Rogers. Final shots had Swift Current out shooting Regina 11-6.
It was a different Regina Pat Team in the second period. Brett Leffler had two great scoring chances, but it was Garret Mitchell seconds later scoring a power play goal, up under the cross bar as he had received a pass out from the corner by Hampus Gustafsson at 4:03, also assisted by Leffler. Three minutes later Regina tied the score at 2-2 when Colten Teubert scored on a rebound at 7:04, assisted by Matt Scrueby and Leffler. It took Swift Current only 1 minute to take the lead as Adam Lowrey scored at 8:07, assisted by Derek Claffey and Dowling. From behind the net, the puck came out infront of the net. Michael Stickland came skating in and shot, scoring on his own rebound at 16:46, to go up two goals. With only 1:23 left in the period, Jordan Eberle scored, assisted by Jordan Weal and Teubert. It was Swift Current taking a 4-3 lead into the third period.
In the third period Swift Current once again went up two goals as they scored on a 2 on 1 rush. Strickland scored at 3:21, assisted by Cody Eagin and Brad Hogan. Regina Pats would not let up as Jordan Eberle shot towards the net, and Defenceman Mitch McColm came in towards the front of the net and scored at 5:02, also assisted by Matt Strueby. Regina then tied the game at 5-5 when Cass Mappin scored to the lower corner of the net at 7:18, assisted by Garrett Mitchell and Strueby. 

In overtime the Regina Pats had a chance with 2:48 left as they were given a power play, but could not score. In the shot out this time it was Regina - Eberle and Weal scored, while Cody Eagin and Brad Hoban were stopped. (Rod Pedersen Photo - Cass Mappin) - What It Takes To Win
