EDMONTON OIL KINGS - 2 vs. REGINA PATS - 5

Tonight the Pats host Edmonton Oil Kings. The puck drops at 7:00pm at the Brandt Centre and on 620 CKRM, Rod Pedersen is the Broadcaster and Al Dumba the Colorman (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35pm right after Don Cherry's Grapeline.) The Oil Kings are the one of the lowest scoring teams in the WHL. Edmonton does not have a player that has more than 10 goals. Two great big games for the Pats this week-end, Edmonton and then Swift Current tomorrow night. Regina Pats are presently 8 points out of 8th place, which is the last play-off spot.

GAMES TO WATCH TONIGHT:

Medicine Hat vs. Prince Albert - (Won 3-2); Saskatoon vs. Swift Current - Lost 4-3); Moose Jaw - (Lost 7-6 SO) vs. Brandon; Red Deer - (Lost 6-3) vs. Kamloops

GAME SUMMARY: The only goal in the first period had Edmonton Oil Kings Rhett Rachinski bat the puck out of the air and skate home free in on Pats goalie Ketlo and scored at 7:31. Regina Pats Cass Mappin with 4 minutes remaining in the period had scored only to have the net knocked off the net. On a review, no goal. Regina Pats out shot Edmonton 16-7.

Near the 2 minute mark of the second period, Regina Pats hit the goal post. Just over two minutes later, they finally did score, as Tomas Hricina skated hard to the front of the net and scored at 4:24, assisted by Hampus Gustafsson and Brandon Davidson. Regina went up 2-1 with Jordan Eberle infront of the net, he received a short pass from Jordan Weal, a power play goal at 10:58, also assisted by Colten Teubert. Eberle scored his second goal of the game on a 4 on 3 power play. The puck was passed back and forth before he finally scored at 13:37, assisted by Weal and Cody Carlson. Eberle's goal moved him into a second place (playing in only 32 games) in the WHL scoring race with Brandon Kozan of Calgary Hitmen (37 games) with 66 points, while Weal is in fourth place with 65 points. Regina out shot Edmonton 16-6.

Two fast goals, both by Garrett Mitchell gave the Regina Pats a 5-1 lead. His first on a power play, scored on a rebound off the goal post at 7:47, assisted by Hampus Gustafsson and Colten Teubert. Only 9 seconds later, Mitchell skated to the net and scored at 7:56, assisted by Cass Mappin and Matt Strueby. Edmonton finished the scoring as Defenceman Keegan Lowe got behind the Pats Defence and scored at 18:06, assisted by Mike Piluso and Klarc Wilson. Regina out shot Edmonton 14-8.
