Canada went 3 for three in the shot out. They were down 4-2 going into the final period, when Jordan Eberle and Alex Pietrangelo's goals tied the game to force the overtime.
Two quick goals by both teams early in the first period had both teams tied 1-1 going into the second period. Canada opened the scoring when Stephan Della Rovere, infont of the net tipped in a pass from Adam Caron fromthe right side of net at 2:03. The United States came right by on a power play goal by Philip McRae on a goal crease scramble rebound.
The Americans went up 2-1 when Jordan Shroeder scored a short handed goal on a high rebound infront of the net. Canada tied the game when Jordan Eberle received a pass at the blue line and skated in, scoring a back hand infront of the net, assisted by Schenn and Scandella. United States took a 3-2 lead with only 10:9 seconds remaining in the period when Tyler Johnson scored their second short handed goal of the period on a rebound.
United States scored early in the third period on a Canadian turn over, when Danny Kristo scored at 1:01. Canada came to life at the mid point of the period when Jordan Eberle scored his second goal of the game at 10:03. He received a long shot and scored from the right of the net, with McMillan and Schann get assists. The tying goal came from a turn over at centre ice and Alex Pietranglo skated in and scored at 15:45. In overime Jordan Eberle with 20 seconds remaining had a break-a-way, only to be stopped by Americans goaltender Jack Campbell on a back hand.
The United States had their chances in the second period. Chris Kreider had a penalty shot and Kyle Pasiseri a break-a-way, only to have both shot wide.
