The Edmonton Oilers tried to call up Jordan Eberle from the Pats on an emergency recall basis for last night's game against Columbus. The flu has ravaged the Oilers locker room.

However rules prevented it from happening. No one seems to know what those rules are. But Jordan's not exactly happy with it. According to the Edmonton Journal, only 17 players were at Edmonton's morning skate Thursday. The Oilers couldn't get a player in from their farm team in Springfield, Mass., in time for the game, so they considered bringing up Eberle. The 19-year-old Pats star was Edmonton's first-round pick (22nd overall) in the 2008 NHL entry draft. "It's a little disappointing (not being able to go to Edmonton)," said Eberle, who has 11 goals and 19 points in nine WHL games this season. "At the same time, it's a little cool that they were even thinking of me."

The Monday Morning Goalie reports former NHL'ers Mike Sillinger and Jamie Heward are playing on the same Adult Safe Hockey League team in the Queen City. And they're NOT winning every game!

Mike Sillinger's retirement party was last night at Crave in downtown Regina.

For you Regina Pat fans who did not hear the broadcast of Prince Albert Raiders game:

Which Regina Pats broadcaster went on a two game road trip and forgot to bring pants? Dan Plaster. So he had to scramble to Walmart, in Saskatoon to grab a pair in advance of the P.A. game. I was in favour of him going Gainer-the-Gopher style, without pants, but he was afraid of a fine.

Regina Pats have a home and home series with the Swift Current Boncos this week-end. Regina Pats visit Swift Current on Saturday, and are home on Sunday.
