Taken from the Regina Pats Hockey Team's web site:

There will be a new look to the Regina Brandt Centre to begin the 2009-2010 season, the most obvious will be the addition horseshoe on the east side of the arena. The construction began during the season with the location of the pillar underneath the concourse to support the weight of the cranes and semis that will bring in the concrete franiming. The concrete and the piecing together of the new seating began.

What many will not notice, but is just as important, is the addition of the two-air-exchange systems in the ceiling of an air conditioner and dehumidifyer, both will improve the arena's ice condtions.

The seating and air conditons all came in a a cost of $4.1 million.

The long-term vision for the Brandt Centre is considerabley more ambitious. Assuming the necessary funds can be raied, the plan is to invest roughly $50 million in the Brandt Centre and the surround parking lots, etc.

The arena upgrades include filling in the concourse with seats, moving the concessions to the back and relocating the main entrance from the east end to the south side. In the final analysis, the Brandt Centre would have a total capacity of 8,000-plus for concerts and over 7,500 for hockey. Those numbers could be further upped for major events by adding temporary bleachers to the west end.
